One thing that surprised me about Auckland is how multicultural it is. Other than the Kiwi accents (that's a post for another day), I feel like I haven't stepped outside Vancouver. In some areas of downtown Auckland, streets are lined with restaurants and storefront signs boldly displaying their Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters. No language police here!
No Japanese-friendly city is complete without a Japanese dollar store. In Vancouver, the equivalent is Daiso, where (almost) everything costs $2. Auckland, however, has one-upped us...

Hey Stephanie!
ReplyDeleteYou are in Auckland! Nice! :)
$3 store is interesting but it looks a bit pricy to me...:S Maybe when it's converted in JPY...it's almost 100 yen?? O_o
nice!!! when are you going to Australia?
ReplyDeleteShiho: yeah, I think it's pricey too! That's more than 200 yen.
ReplyDeleteBeez: I'm heading to Sydney in a couple days :)
